I hope you are ready for the recipe we have in store for you today. This Asian inspired Sweet and Sour cauliflower is an absolute dream. If you are looking for a different lunch option, a cheeky yet healthy snack, or some finger food, you are in the right place.
I have a serious obsession with cauliflower. And I believe we don't give it as much credit as it deserves. Cauliflower is one of the most versatile veggies out there, it has those beautiful florets you can stir fry. If you blend it has a creamy consistency. You can grate it for a rice-like texture and its taste is really mild, it is easy to season it and mix it with other veggies.
Also, cauliflower is jam-packed with nutrients and health benefits, its nutrient profile is very impressive. Like all the other white vegetables, cauliflower helps lower the so-called bad cholesterol in your body. It helps reduce high blood pressure, it boosts our immune system, and it has compounds known to have a protective role against cancer.
As you may see, there are a ton of reasons to include white veggies such as cauliflower in our diet. And to give it a bit of variety, I came up with this super yummy recipe. I love making this vegan cauliflower dish for dinner. I usually serve it with a side of quinoa and sometimes with a salad that I can quickly whip together. And just like that, I have a real feast on the table.
I cook cauliflower on a regular basis, so the family and I needed a bit of a change. We love Asian inspired food and sweet and sour food. So, I put all these elements together and made this vegan sweet and sour cauliflower dish.
The process to make these beauties is really simple, and the outcome is amazing. First, we are making cauliflower bites to make the florets a bit crispy. Also, this crust will help us have more sauce on every bite.
For the curst, we are making a batter flour and water. I seasoned it with garlic powder, turmeric, and salt. Since cauliflower has such a subtle flavour, we need to make sure we have flavour in every layer. And for the crispy-effect, we are adding bread crumbs at the end of the process.
The next step is to make the sweet and sour sauce. Aside from having the right flavour, we also need the right consistency, it needs to be a bit sticky. We have a little trick for this, we are adding 2 tablespoons of strawberry jam and corn starch to a mix of soy sauce, orange juice, rice vinegar, and sriracha sauce. I am already drooling over this vegan cauliflower dish!
Seriously, I really think this is becoming one of my favourite recipes. It takes me less than 30 minutes to make it and everyone loves this little bites of yum!
