Cauliflower just went from boring to "are you kidding me!". I know cauliflower might not seem like the most exciting thing to have for dinner but wait until you give this roasted cauliflower steak a try.
The recipe I'm about to share with you has become one of my top listers. I had no idea cauliflower could taste this good but oh, was I wrong. And I love how easy it is to get all these rich flavours on your plate and have a super healthy dinner option.
Cauliflower is one of those veggies that's quite often overlooked because, to be honest, its flavour is very bland. I don't think I've never met someone that actually craves cauliflower. But it is great to stumble upon recipes that have a different approach to ingredients we didn't think much of.
The subtle flavour of this veggie can be both a blessing and a course. People don't really make a big fuss about cauliflower, unlike avocado, sweet potatoes or any of those incredibly flavourful veggies. But on the other hand, this makes it really easy to integrate to all sorts of dishes and cook it in all sorts of different ways.
Cauliflower is a super healthy veggie. It's loaded with vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals, omega 3 fatty acids, fiber, antioxidants, and there are about 3.2 g of protein in a cup of cauliflower.
Now that we have the health part covered we just need to address the flavour. We don't need much to make our cauliflower stake super tasty. It's all about the seasonings and all we are using is smoked paprika and cajun spice. Yep! That's it. And since we're cooking it in the oven we are also getting that unique roasted flavour from that.
We need to cut the cauliflower into thick slices but know that it crumbles easily. You might end up with chunks of cauliflower instead actual slices. Don't worry too much, just season the pieces and throw them on the tray that'll go in the oven.
We need a spread to go with this super tasty cauliflower steak. We are making an incredibly delicious nut hummus using your classic hummus dip and a few other ingredients.
The spread is super easy to make and it will take you just a few minutes. We need to sauté red onion, almond flour, and pine nuts for a couple of minutes and we then add the hummus. This is incredibly fragrant and will give you an idea of where we are headed with this spread.
The spread is like a hummus 2.0 that not only adds flavour to the cauliflower steak it also adds protein to our plate. We want this recipe to be a full meal so we need to make sure we are getting all our basics covered.
Our cauliflower steak and nut hummus recipe is a super healthy, easy-to-make and an incredibly delicious meal. You and your family will absolutely love it. And since it's very easy to prepare you will be able to whip it together even during a week night.
