Sweet Carrot and Kale ingredients

You won't need anything too complicated to make this recipe, just a few kitchen staples will do the trick. We are mixing a few things to get a really flavourful end result with minimum effort. The recipe is super affordable, perfect for when you are catering for a big group or if you are on a budget.

This side dish consists of two parts, the carrots which are slightly sweet and crunchy and sautéed kale seasoned with soy sauce. Together they are a match made in heaven that will make you look like an absolute pro in the kitchen!

For the sweet carrot

  • 1 dash black pepper (ground) (optional)
  • 1 lb carrot (cleaned)
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 dash sea salt (optional)

For the kale

  • 1 lb kale (washed and roughly chopped)
  • 1 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 1 tsp olive oil


  1. For the carrots preheat oven to 420F (220C) and cover a baking tray with baking paper.
  2. In bowl mix all the ingredients for the carrots and scatter them on the baking tray.
  3. Bake them for about 30-40 minutes until just tender.
  4. For the kale simply heat up the olive oil in a large wok or frying pan and stir fry for about 1-5 minutes.
  5. Make sure you don't overcook the kale, it's done if it turns bright green, then you add the soy sauce, give it a good stir and adjust taste.
  6. Serve the sweet carrots and kale alongside the main dish, enjoy!
