We all love a heartwarming bowl of tasty noodles. Well, today, we have one of the lesser-known dishes from the Japanese cuisine to fill all your noodles needs. We are making Tan Tan ramen, a Japanese street food staple that you'll easily be able to make at home.
The beauty of this recipe is the incredible load of flavours we can fit in one single bowl of food. I am always amazed by the taste and the little effort it takes to make. And, we have absolutely everything we need for a whole rounded meal.
There are a few different elements to this delicious vegan ramen. We have the delicious and super flavourful broth, we have some veggies in there and beyond meat. And we can't have a ramen dish without ramen, of course. And we have a handful of spices to make it super tasty, this is what makes Tan tan ramen so special and unique.
This recipe is Japanese, however, it is inspired by the all-time famous Sichuan Dan Dan noodles found in China. So, you'll see a bit of a mix of elements from both cuisines. For example, we have doubanjiang Sichuan cuisine seasoning paste which is Chinese and Japanese ramen noodles.
I was able to find all the ingredients in my local Asian market. And throughout the years if there is something I can't find locally I'll order it online. However, most if not all of my recipes only have ingredients you can easily find around you. I don't want to overcomplicate your life.
We are making this ramen with beyond meat, instead of using pork, which is what the original recipe calls for. Beyond meat adds a good amount of flavour to the broth. It also adds a lot of substance, so it feels more like a whole meal than just a soup.
Also, the original recipe is fairly spicy. I am always really cautious with the amount of chilli that goes into my dishes. I'm not great at handling spice so I dialled back a whole lot for this recipe. You always have the option to add a little bit extra or go a bit crazy if you can handle more.
The whole recipe will only take you about 30 minutes to have ready and it requires very little effort. It's a great recipe to have handy when you want a nourishing meal but you are running low on time. Sometimes, I even make a big batch and keep it in the fridge so I have meals sorted for a few days, I would just recommend adding the noodles when you are ready to eat them so they don't become a soggy mess.
You and your family are going to love this vegan ramen. This vegan Tan Tan ramen is flavourful, it's heartwarming, it's loaded with nutrients and will keep your belly full for a good while. And this delicious bowl of vegan Tan Tan ramen will transport you to the streets of Japan with every bite you take.
